New Tires, New Wires
After consideration about what to do with the new Buick Skylark Wire wheels, I decided to just go ahead and get some new thin-whitewall radials and put them on the car… Sure, nice wheels shouldn’t be a priority but since I have’m, might as well use’m! The tires were budget brand, not because I am cheap but because I wanted something old-school looking, nothing fancy! The tire of choice is from Mastercraft, size 225/75/15 and cost me less than $70 bux each. I painted the rear brake drum aluminum-silver to match the front, which are actually made of aluminum, not steel. I hope that wasn’t a “ghetto” thing to do. I think it looks decent enough. Chrome lug bolts… yes BOLTS, not lug nuts… Buick used bolts to hold the wheels on in 1960! They came from Wheel Vintique, the same company that makes the wheels. They weren’t cheap at about $100 for the set of 20, but whadya goona do?
Wires fit that car perfectly! What a swell ride…
Dave Stromberger,
Can you post or email me the part number for the lug bolts?
I like the chrome ones you have but I cant seem to find them.
Thanks
I got these from Wheel Vintiques, don’t know the part number. You have to call them, I don’t think they are listed on their website, or at least they weren’t when I got these.
